Apple 3D Head-tracking for... Manufacturing?
Apple 3D Head-tracking for... Manufacturing?
Apple recently filed a patent for a new 3D user interface. It would reportedly use Apple's existing iSight camera to track users head movements and then change the screen perspective accordingly. The sensing mechanism may even be able to detect features on a user's face (eyes, mouth, where the eyes are looking) or the position of a user's hands, arms, or other body part. For a detailed account of the patent, head over to the PatentlyApple blog.
Manufacturing Software Advice thinks this technology would be great to design and prototype products. They would like to see Apple's technology integrated with CAD/CAM software. This would allow engineers to change a design, test “what if” scenarios and directly manipulate a product model all with a series of hand gestures or head nods.
To help visualize this, they created a mock-demonstration video: Apple 3D for Manufacturing.

3 New Solidworks & Pro-E OpportunitiesHi Gary,
I hope this message finds you well and Happy New Year! I am currently looking for 3 people to help a client of ours convert Pro-E files to Solidworks files and I wanted to open this up to your group. Typically the response is overwhelming so I want to let your group know I will only be able to respond if they meet the following:
· 2-3+ years experience on Solidworks, last used in industry job within 6 months
· 1-2+ years experience on Pro-E
· Can work from home for 40 hours a week and be able to come to SJ office and meet with the client 1-3 times a week.
· Electronics industry experience a huge plus
· Experience converting Pro-E files to Solidworks (or visa versa) is a huge plus too.
Thanks for helping me spread the word!
