LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEEER — MACHINE DESIGN

Location : San Jose, CA

We are a full-service global engineering solutions provider with an immediate need for a senior mechanical engineer with experience in machine design and/or automation engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design of industrial manufacturing machinery, pneumatic mechanisms, and electro-mechanical drives (induction motors, controllers, chain drives, etc.)and continuous media handling; solid working knowledge of mechanical tolerances and fits; working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, metal forming, welding, brazing; working knowledge of engineering materials such as various grades of carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels and aluminum alloys; applications of Unistrut and “80/20″ structural members; proper application of finishes and corrosion protection; and good understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles including solid mechanics, heat transfer, and mechanisms; and, solid working knowledge of engineering documentation (primarily drawings and BOMs).

A strictly rigorous, methodical approach and utmost attention to detail is of paramount importance.

Skill in effectively and efficiently direct the efforts of offshore and local CAD designers and drafters is critically important. While your role will not be primarily that of a CAD designer, you will need familiarity and the ability to work with 3D solid modeling. Solidworks experience is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have a BSME or higher degree and 4 – 6 years of direct product design experience in industrial capital equipment production line machinery, with lead engineering responsibility for complete machine/equipment designs. You will be working with others on your projects, but as the engineering lead you must be comfortable with project-level responsibility for accuracy, technical, schedule and budget performance.

You must be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic and positive attitude, take your performance personally, and have the skill and energy to do what it takes to achieve high-quality, on-schedule results. Excellent communication skills are necessary. This position involves significant contact with Customer engineering personnel.

Analysis experience (FEA) is not strictly necessary but is a plus. You should be able to conduct typical engineering hand calculations (stress, deflection, tolerance stack, heat transfer, etc) to support normal design work.

Exceptional engineers having skills and experience in the areas noted above but not specifically from the machine design industry will be considered. However, this position is not for anyone without a strong and broad background in mechanical engineering

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Carrie Stalker
